The French Quarter was founded in 1718 and is one of New Orleans' most historic neighborhoods. The French Quarter has everything a person could want including dining, shopping, entertainment, and drinks.
Map of the French Quarter
The French Quarter has beautiful architecture including the St. Louis Cathedral, Creole townhouses, and American townhouses.
St. Louis Cathedral
The St. Louis Cathedral is a Catholic Church that was originally built in 1727. The original building was burned during a fire in 1794 and was rebuilt. The present Church was completed in the 1850s. It is one of the tallest structures in the French Quarter and one of the most recognizable. The cathedral has been in hundreds of TV shows and movies.
A picture of the St. Louis Cathedral that I took while visiting. Pictures do not do this amazing Cathedral justice. It is phenomenal.
Another picture I took inside the Cathedral. The details on the ceiling are exquisite.

Creole Townhouses
The Creole townhouses have shops on the bottom floor and homes above. They were built after fires in 1788 and 1794, which destroyed the town's French Colonial houses. Exterior to the shop, there is a flagstone pathway that leads to a loggia, where the family can enjoy an outside porch area. Stairs are never in a hallway in the Creole townhouses.

American Townhouses
The American townhouse is similar to the Creole townhouse, but it has an interior stair hall and post-and-lintel openings. These townhouses date back to 1825 and always have late Federal or Greek Revival ornament and are found in rows. This townhouse does not have a family entrance because it lacks an upper residence.

Two pictures I took from the French Quarter. The buildings there are amazing!
